Lego-rific

I meant to post this monday night and then just didn't get around to it and now I forget what we did on Monday.  Sigh.

I do know that I started a daily journal project with Drew (and Hunter, if he is awake when we do it).  Drew really struggles with hand-writing, and really hates it.  He has come along way this year, thanks to Kindergarten and I want him to hold onto the skills he has learned in JK.....enter the journal!  I made up sheets (see above) and have printed out the days of the week, so he can copy that, and then he is to draw a picture and sound out a sentence about what he did each day.  We're mostly working on beginning sounds at this point (he copied "lego" from the box in the above photo).  He's not really a fan, hates sitting still long enough to do it, but it only takes a few minutes and that's all the writing I'm "forcing" him to do.

Tuesday was a great day.  I decided last minute to head to Crawford lake to take the boys on a hike.  Man, that was a great decision.  There is a boardwalk around the lake, Drew was convinced it was a giant bridge and was thrilled the whole time we were walking on it.  Hunter loved looking at the lake and was laughing the entire time, chasing after his brother.  Once we finished the hike, we headed to look at the Indian village, and both boys were awe-struck with this.  We will definitely be going back here.

Checking out the frogs below.

This is what remains (the front porch) of the Crawford families summer  house.

Hunter's popsicle broke and he was NOT happy.

Inside the long house.
Hunter refused to nap in the afternoon, so we headed outside and set up our sprinkler (thanks Uncle Jamie!).  Nana showed up and then shortly after that Papa showed up with the tractor and baler (the boys were thrilled to see the big tractor).  Papa headed out to the field to bale up some hay and Nana stayed and played outside with us.

We headed up to the Glen shortly after, leaving Nana's car for Papa so he could get home.  Hunter fell asleep on the way there (of course), we ate dinner and then I woke Hunter up and we headed to Drew's soccer game.  My little monkey scored a goal on this night!  YAY!

An ice cream treat at Lucy's (actually Allison's, but Drew continues to call it Lucy's) and then a quick visit back at the Glen with Papa.

Bedtime went fairly easily, although Drew was put to bed with no stories as he did NOT listen to me on the way home and was annoying his brother.

James was home in good time so we were able to watch a DVR'd episode of "Friday Night Lights" and then bedtime.....another fun day!
