The Bat Cave

Last night as James and I sat watching the "Wills and Kate" movie (surprisingly good...and has made me have a new appreciation for this couple) something swooped by my face.  "Ah..a bird is in the house!" I yelled. "Oh no, it's a bat!!" I screech.  I then start laughing hysterically...honestly, it just topped off my day perfectly (had a rough one yesterday).

I was absolutely useless in the "get the bat out of the house" operation.  Luckily James was home from work.  I essentially covered my head with a blanket and dodged the creepy thing whenever it flew at me (which was a lot).  James eventually told me to leave the room as I wasn't helping.  The bat took a tour of the house, into our bedroom, into Hunter's bedroom, upstairs to my brother's old room.  We (ok, James) attempted to shoo it out of the house, but it just wouldn't leave.  It eventually met it's match at the end of a tennis racket.

Good times.

Today was a better day.  We had a quiet morning at home, playing "kitchen".  Drew and Hunter would put a bunch of their wooden food into bowls, put it into their microwave and then serve it to me.  While we did this, James made waffles.

After breakfast, I loaded the boys in the van and then took them up to my parents.  I was working this afternoon, so Nana and Papa were on babysitting duty.  The boys rode the bus with my mom twice and then stayed home with my dad for her third run....they had a great time.  Once I arrived home, my mom and I took the boys outside to play as there was a lull in the rain.  Drew got on his bike and was whizzing around the winner's circle when he got stuck in a puddle.  It was at this time that he discovered that he could shoot water and mud behind him with his back wheel.  He stayed here for quite some time.  Hunter kept running up behind him to get sprayed and then run away laughing like crazy.  It was too funny.

We quickly took them in for baths before Papa returned home with dinner.  The rest of the evening found us eating, jumping on the mini-trampoline that is in their living room and watching treehouse. Incidentally,  I just read that treehouse inadvertently showed an add for the movie, "the ring".  Yikes!  Thank goodness the boys didn't see that, but what a mix up!!!  There are some PISSED-OFF parents out there!  After the day, both boys were exhausted (Hunter didn't nap) and Drew was acting up because he was so tired.  The time period between 5-7 is always the HARDEST time of day for us.

Both boys fell asleep on the way home, but Hunter has been up screaming sporadically since I put him in his crib...over-tired maybe???

Anyways, that was our day!  Hopefully no more bats tonight!  It's James' day 5, so we will get to see him for the next few days....yay!

"Real" Easter

Saturday night found me up late stuffing eggs, and helping the Easter bunny with the placement of the toys/candy he had brought the boys (he just left everything in a WalMart bag on top of my wardrobe!)

I had everything all perfectly placed, with a cute little trail of eggs for the boys to follow to their main gifts when James came home.  He comes into the playroom, without noticing the eggs, then looks down and swears...then starts to pick up the eggs.  Why are they all over the floor??  I'm annoyed, but tell him calmly to follow the trail...then he gets it and puts the eggs back.  Men.

Sunday morning, Hunter woke up first, so we waited until Drew woke up before we followed the trail (H didn't notice the eggs, so it was easy to make him wait).  Once Drew was up, we followed the trail and found their loot.  They were both super excited.  Hunter didn't waste any time and got right into the chocolate.

Following the trail..H found his first egg, and sat down and ate it.  Smart little man.

We are really into lego now!

Super giant Kinder egg!!  WOOHOO!!
Drew ran into wake James up to show him what the Easter bunny had left.  I didn't stop him...there are some things you shouldn't miss because you are sleeping.  James hung out with us for a bit, then went out to the barn and then we were all on our way to the Glen for Easter lunch.  James took a few hours off to join us for the meal...he didn't have to be at work until 4.

The level of excitement rose significantly once we arrived.  Papa had finished putting up the trampoline. Drew went running inside to get Nana to come play outside, when he got even more excited.  Nana had left all of their gifts for the boys just inside the door.  Drew came running back out..."Nana and Papa got us TOYS!!!"  It was really cute.  Poor Hunter was sleeping for all of this.  He fell asleep in the van and I transferred him into the crib.

After some play time, aunt Fran and Henk arrived, and Jamie took Drew on an Easter egg hunt he had set up.  We had a yummy turkey lunch, and then just hung out for the afternoon.  James left at 3 and so did Aunt Fran and Henk.  The boys and I stayed on until after dinner.

Hunter wasn't interested in dinner, which is very unlike him.  He felt warm, and was kind of falling asleep in my arms.  All of a sudden he barfed all over the place.  Fun times!  The poor little man.  We cleaned him up, got him into his jammies and then he kind of half-slept on the couch while I readied Drew for home.  Getting Drew ready for home was not an easy task.  He was so cranked up on chocolate the excitement of Uncle Jamie being home that he was fighting me tooth and nail.  I almost snapped, but held it together (kind of) and literally dragged him out of the house and into the van.  Drew crashed in the van, so once home I took Hunter inside and plopped him on the couch (he was wide awake) and then took Drew upstairs to bed.

I tried giving H tempra, but he puked all of that up too.  He was easy to put to bed, he was so exhausted and slept until 5 this morning.  He seems to be doing better, I'm praying for no more puke!!

Happy Easter!

The week in Review.

Let's see....where to begin....

On Monday I worked all day.  I was at Bruce Trail PS in a lovely kindergarten class.  Drew was in school and Hunter and James played at home.  I met James and the boys after-school at the Georgetown early years centre.  There is a french program there every monday night, so we like to head there after school.  Drew isn't always interested in going to the french program, as it's more school, so sometimes we just ride the bikes in the big gym area.  We picked up pizza and breadsticks and headed up to Nana and Papa's for dinner.

Tuesday afternoon found us at Kelly's house hunting for eggs all over their property.  We were meeting right at the tail end of Hunter's nap, so rather than waking him, I left him and James at home and had a date with my biggest monkey.  We both had a blast.  We spent an hour hunting for eggs (they have a really big property and the eggs were hidden all over!) and then about another hour playing in their basement with all of our friends.

I had a doctor's appointment Tuesday night to discuss the results of my CT scan.  It turns out that my ureter is dilated (which I knew from my ultrasound) but my kidneys are enlarged too.  There are no blockages or anything that appears to be causing this, so I'm being sent off to a specialist.  Nothing serious, just more tests to be done.  Fun times.

Wednesday found me in Drew's classroom, volunteering for the morning.  I zipped home after this to pick Hunter up and head to our Easter playdate at Rocchina's house.  She had planned an elaborate time for us to decorate eggs, read stories, and just plain have fun together.  It was different on this day.  Hunter is a little more hands on than Drew is.  He is more likely to fall down stairs or eat something he shouldn't, so not quite the relaxing playgroup I had the day before, but fun nonetheless!

Hunter fell asleep on my way home, so James loaded the van up with the carpet he had pulled out of the upstairs bedroom and off we went to the dump.  Hunter woke up on our way back, so we stopped for lunch and then a quick haircut for Hunter.

We headed up to the Glen to be there when Drew got home from school and then stayed for a yummy roast beef supper.

Thursday I worked again, so James took the boys to Skedaddles.  We were planning on hitting Chuck E Cheese for dinner, but Drew fell asleep on the couch and then woke up with a fever, so Hunter and I headed to Wal-Mart instead.  I needed to get a few last minute Easter things.  Man, do I ever wish I had stayed home.  The place was a zoo and Hunter did not want to be shopping (it was close to his bedtime).  Ah well, it had to be done.

Friday was a rainy, cold and miserable day.  Drew wasn't feeling very well still, so we just layed low. Drew and I dyed eggs while Hunter napped.  Drew was fascinated with mixing the colours....he kept saying, "I wonder what colour it will be next???"  This went on for quite a long time!!  Who knew eggs could be so much fun!?!?

Once Hunter woke up, we headed to Nana and Papa's for the evening.  My brother came home on this day, but we didn't get to see him.  He went to a dinner party with some friends.

Saturday I took the boys to Milton for the Easter parade.  We brought baskets and went around to various downtown businesses to collect treats.  We met up with Rocchina and Reina, and had so much fun.  Hunter kept stealing chocolate out of his basket, so was a mess every time I turned around.  It turned out to be quite a warm day, so it was really fun to walk around downtown.  After this, I had promised Drew we could go to Indigo to choose something to buy with the money that Aunt Fran had sent him (and Hunter) for Easter.  He chose a Lego set, which once I bought, I realized it was for kids 7 and up.  I ended up putting it together.....it was hard!  After a treat at Starbucks, we headed to the Glen where we hung out with Nana and Papa and Uncle Jamie!!!  Drew was convinced that Uncle Jamie wouldn't remember him.  Poor little man.  Uncle Jamie took Drew on the 4-wheeler out to the back, Drew was thrilled!!  The hung out most of the evening.  Hunter warmed up to him too.  God I wish he was moving back closer to home once he's done Police college.

Hunter went swimming a few times in this puddle.  His outfit was changed numerous times.

A great week!!
