April 27, 2010

We have an appt. with our doctor tomorrow to check up on Hunter.  I'm hoping she'll refer him to a pediatrician.  I'm not willing to wait the 3 months she is suggesting to see if he gets better.  If it's asthma or allergies, we should deal with them now, so he's breathing better.

We are buying a cottage.  It's on the Otonabee river in Peterborough at Rice lake.  It's a co-ownership cottage.  It was a resort.  The owner is selling off each of the cottages (there are 10) individually.  When we close the deal (in june) we will have exclusive rights to our cottage as well as a 1/10 ownership in the property.  This deal seems to be a great fit for us for a few reasons;
a) it's cheaper than buying a traditional freehold cottage
b) we pay a "condo" fee each month, which takes care of our taxes, water/hydro bills, grass-cutting, property maintenance, etc.  Having the farm to take care of leaves us without the desire to cut even more grass....this makes it possible to have the enjoyment of a cottage without the hassle!
c) it allows us the freedom to go up on a "spur of the moment" basis for a night or two.  Unlike the fractional ownership deals that we were considering before this came up.

Our plan is to go up and stay our first night this weekend.  We're very excited.

And things change once again...

Hunter is not only crawling, he's pulling himself up to a standing position.  This is both exciting, and terrifying.  He's into everything.  Drew is 3 and has many toys that are not appropriate/downright dangerous for a 9 month old.  Can you say, choking hazard?!?!  It was so easy to baby-proof with Drew, and now to try and keep the house interesting and exciting for my biggest, little man, and safe for my littlest is so hard.  How do people have more than one child?  It's been 9 months since my number 2 was born and I'm still trying to figure it out......
This whole crawling/pulling himself up business has become an issue for Drew too.  Hunter is obviously interested in what his big brother is doing, so he's all over whatever Drew is doing.  Oh dear.

Let's try this again...

So, I've let this whole "blogging" thing go a bit.  Haven't posted in a couple of months.  I'm going to try and give it another go.  It's really important to me to try and record some of our "happenings".

A major highlight of the past few months was another trip to Florida.  We went back and forth on this trip, trying to decide whether to go or not.  Finally decided that it would be the last time James would have to go away without taking any vacation time (unless we have another baby) so we went.  Stayed at my parents time-share, and had a blast!

We were there over Easter, so the condo held an egg-hunt on the driving range, and the Easter bunny found us in our condo....lots of chocolate and treats to be had!  Drew, Hunter and I all came down with some sort of crazy flu-bug where we were all puking like crazy.  I was very thankful for the 2 bathrooms.  It was really bad for a few days.....but I would still rate the trip as a success.  The weather was perfect, and we hit Disney for a few days too.

Since then, James has gone back to work.  It's been quite a transition.  Drew tells me every day that he misses daddy.  We're at my parents house alot, I'm very thankful that they live so close.  I'll write more on this as we adjust to life without daddy 24/7.

Hunter had his 9 month check-up and has lost weight.  This concerns our doctor, and she even through out a possiblity of cystic fibrosis (he's been congested for months now).  The whole CF thing has really freaked me out, but I'm not convinced it's a serious concern.  We have to wait for his 12 month check-up to see how he's doing then....great, 3 months of worry, just what I need!

Some funny things that Drew has said,
-He called my dad, "farty Mcpoopy pants".
-He was on the potty the other day and asked me to smell his poop.  I said, "why, does it smell like roses?"  He replies, "ya, dirty ones".
-He was in the potty today and told me his penis was pretty red.  He then says, "maybe I should stop touching it so much, then it wouldn't be so red".  LOL
