Happy Canada Day Weekend!

Our long weekend was full of fun.  We started the weekend off, as we always do, at the Glen.  We walked down to watch the parade downtown.  It was the exact same parade as last year and the boys were just as excited (the adults were more excited by the treats we brought with us/found along the way).

Hunter fell asleep during the parade in my arms.  Once the parade was over, I put him down in the wagon and he had a good 2 hour nap!  We were all surprised he slept so long.

Once the parade was over, Papa headed back up to the farm to rake some hay, James stayed with Hunter in the shade and Nana and I took Drew over to the park (at his request).  The park was crazy busy (as it is every year).  Filled with vendors and ice cream trucks and more people than you can imagine.  Drew got a couple balloon animals, went fishing in a kiddie pool and went down the slide once, so he was thrilled.

We all walked back up to the farm.  By this time, Papa was finished raking, and Hunter had woken up, so we played a little there and then the boys, James and I hit the road for the cottage.

The drive to the cottage was great.  Traffic wasn't bad and we made it there in great time.  Once there, we unpacked and then the usual cottage happenings occurred.

Saturday morning, we packed the kids up and headed into town.  We stopped at McDonald's first, for some pancakes, headed to the grocery store to pick up everything we had forgotten to bring and then to the farmer's market (which was where everyone in Peterborough was....it was PACKED!).

A short drive home found us playing in our yard, having lunch and then welcoming our guests for the night (L, N and the girls).  The afternoon/evening was filled with swimming, running, climbing and jumping.

I was able to get Hunter to take a short nap, but only by forcing him into the stroller and walking (it literally took 2 minutes for him to fall asleep once we started walking, he was exhausted).  After the kids had gone swimming for the  millionth time, we started a fire in our new fire bowl and brought out the smores necessities.  L had bought out an entire store of it's chocolate (love my sister in law and her sweet tooth...it almost matches mine!).  They had also brought some sparklers, which were a huge hit with the kids.

Once I (sorry, the kids) had consumed enough chocolate, I took Hunter to bed.  I fell asleep too, so I missed everything after this.  Apparently there was some fun going on at the "main" fire pit, so the kids and some adults headed down there.

Sunday was more of the same.  Swimming, running, playing.  Hunter had a huge nap in his crib on this day (which meant I got a nap in my bed too!).

We had our first "condo" meeting that got off to a rocky start with James getting yelled at for no apparent reason, but seemed to calm down after that and went fairly well.  Our first "official" meeting is set for August 21.  That's where we'll get a look at all the finances and such of the condo association and elect our executive officers.  Fun times.

L, N and the girls left around 4:30.  We stayed on until well after dinner and then went over to Luc and Erin's cottage and had a little visit with them.  We hadn't seen them in quite some time, so it was good to catch up with them.

The drive home wasn't all that great.  Traffic was pretty bad, so it took us longer than usual to get home. Luckily, once we got on the highway, both boys fell asleep....at least it was a quiet drive home, even if it was long!
