Haircuts!

I only worked 2 days this week!  We couldn't figure out care for the boys for either Thursday or Friday (Monday was a holiday), so I stayed home with them.  Can't say that I wasn't a little bit bummed that I missed out on some money, but I did have a great time hanging out with the boys while I was off.  It's so hard to know what is best....work = money or time with boys = happy mommy/boys but no money.....if only we could win the damn lottery!

Anyways...Tuesday was a blur.  I worked all day, helped out with the school's book fair after school and then went to a work-shop on how boys and girls learn differently.  The work-shop was a bust, didn't feel like I learned anything.  On the plus side, we got free pizza!  The boys spent the day/evening in Brampton at Grandma and Grandpa's.  I had to drive to Brampton to pick them up after the workshop (at 7:30)...once the boys crashed, I did too!!

Wednesday is my "half-day".  I left work, and met James and Hunter at Subway.  He had his first fruit roll-up there (a momentous occasion).

Hunter loving his fruit roll-up.
After lunch, we went next door and got H's hair cut.  His hair was getting a tad bit ridiculous.  He was a little distracted by the fire-truck he got to sit in, but sad pouty lip came out several times.  The boy does not like to get his hair cut.

Thursday was crazy craft, water play, let's get every toy we have in the house out day.  It was fabulous.

if you'll notice, Drew is dumping the bottle of water onto the floor, not into the water table.  He is saying, "oops" in the photo.

The boys tasting a "hostess cupcake" for the first time.  For some reason I feel compelled to take photos of them eating the crap foods from my childhood.  For the record, these were bought by my dad for him to take to work for HIS lunch.  It's nice to know that I come by my love of junk-food honestly.
Friday we had a snow storm.  It didn't seem that bad first thing in the morning.  The buses in Halton were still running (they had been cancelled in Peel and several other school boards).  Drew went off to school and H and I hunkered down for a day at home.  I had to head out though, as we were out of diapers (brilliant on my part) so off we went, into the snow storm (which had started full-force).  The good thing was, that no one else was on the road and Wal-mart was essentially empty.

Once Drew came home, the storm had passed and we had a phone call from Nana/Papa asking us why we weren't at their house yet!  We got in the van and headed to the Glen to hang out with them.

And that's that....I'll do another post on our weekend.

Niagara/Buffalo mini-vacation (Feb 18-20)

For whatever reason, the photos at the beginning of this post got all screwed up.

Our mini-vacay was awesome.  We started off at skating lessons, as we do every saturday morning.  This saturday though, Drew got his mid-term report card.  I was so excited by the table of report cards/ribbons, I didn't see the big board, which listed which class the children had moved to!  We were supposed to pick up a new colour thingy for his skate, so that they would take him right from the get-go to his new class.  Poor little bean went to his old class.  There was a bit of shuffling during class.

We're very proud of the little man, who is doing so well with his skating!

Once skating was over, we had a bit of a snack with Nana and Papa (who came to watch) and then headed to Burlington.  Here we stopped for Subway, had some ice cream and then went to the grocery store for some snacks (because what's a Bonney family road trip without crap to eat?!?!?)

Aunt Laurie and Uncle Andre's was next on the list.  We had told Drew and Hunter that Andre was installing a bathroom in their basement.  Drew was CONVINCED that he was just digging a giant hole in the basement, and was trying to convince us that we should do that too, cause you know, "digging holes isn't hard, I do it everyday!".  Gotta love that logic.

We had a great visit, the boys loved seeing little H (I think she had fun with them too!!)......I wish we lived closer!!!

Once we arrived at the double tree, James went to check in and left the boys and I in the car.  Hunter was sleeping, so Drew and I just hung out.  It took James FOREVER to come out, he was in our room giving Lisa directions to our house, because we had forgotten our passports at home.

We are so smart!
The lovely hotel I worked at during university.

The double tree gives you a fresh baked cookie upon check-in!

Once L, N and the girls arrived, we ate dinner (pizza and wings) and then James took the kids swimming. That was pretty much that for our night.  Drew requested the hockey game be put on, so we watched a bit of that and then the boys went to sleep and James and I watched an episode of survivor on the laptop, using earphones so as not to wake the boys!

skyping with Grandma and Grandpa.

Watching the hockey game.

It's so tough to be 5!

Pretty sunrise.
The next morning, we went swimming (I spent way too much time in the hot-tub and spent the rest of the day with a giant headache).

We went to the bird aviary, which honestly, I wasn't very excited about.  Headache + birds crapping on my head wasn't exactly my idea of fun.  It turned out to be fantastic though.  I highly recommend going!!!

We decided to test their luck and sent the kids over the falls in a barrel.  They came out A-ok!!

I wonder if the birds were afraid of the "bear".  Drew refused to take his hat off because he didn't want to be pooped on.

"Somebody help, my dad is being attacked by birds!!!"

J being freaked out by her crazy uncle.

Snack time!

"Mommy, I'm stuck".  This happened far too many times.

Another out of order photo...we took this just as we were leaving the aviary.

Crossing over to Buffalo.

Hunter's self-portrait
Sunday night we headed over to Buffalo where we went to Target, the kids went swimming, I tried to go to Old Navy (which closed at 7 - annoying given that I was there at 7:15) and James and I watched an episode of Modern Family after the kids had gone to bed (again with ear phones!).

Monday found Lisa, J and I headed over to the Walden galleria for a bit while Norm and James took the other 3 stooges swimming.  After checking out of the hotel, we headed to the Olive Garden for a delicious lunch and then it was home for a relaxing, do-nothing evening.

Happy family day!  Sorry the pics were so screwed up in this post!!

This week...(Feb 11-17)

I know every week I say something about how I can't believe how fast the week went, and here's a week in pictures cause I didn't have enough time to blog about it, bla bla bla.  Seriously though, how the hell is it Friday night already??

Here's another damn week in review!

Saturday was a very unusual day for me.  It was unusual because I had so much free time.  The original plan was for us to take 2 cars to skating lessons, I'd leave at 11 to meet Erin in Burlington for lunch and then come back to Milton for my hair appointment.  This plan was ruined by the weather.  We did take 2 cars to skating, but the drive was brutal.  The drive to Burlington was not going to happen, and I didn't want to drive back home, only to have to drive back into Milton for my hair appointment (no way in hell I was cancelling that!).

After skating, I stayed in town and James took the boys home (and then to Brampton so that his parents could watch them while he played basketball...we both had delightfully relaxing days).  I didn't really know what to do with myself to be honest.  There are only so many stores in the Milton mall.....it was a nice change from my reality though.

That night, we just hung around the house.  We decorated Valentine's cookies, played games, and just enjoyed each others company.

Sunday I sped off to Burlington to meet Erin for lunch (the weather cooperated for us on this day) and then sped back to Milton to meet James and the boys at "Couture cupcake boutique" for Campbell's birthday party.  James left the party early to take a conference call relating to our cottage (more fun things happening with that place - please note my sarcasm).  After the party, the boys and I rushed home to meet Grandma and Grandpa.  They were watching the boys so that James and I could head off to a wedding reception (a friend from James' work got married in Costa Rica and was having her reception on this day!).

The rest of the week is a bit of a blur.  James and the boys took me out to East side marios for dinner on Monday night.  I met them there after work (we had a staff meeting, so I was late).  They walked in carrying a potted rose and all of their cards, yelling "mommy!!!"  It was very cute.  After dinner, I took the boys to Wal-mart to pick out some treats.  Grandma and Grandpa had given them $5 each for Valentine's and Aunt Fran had also given them $5 so they had $10 each to spend.  It took FOREVER to pick out something.  They had fun though, you could see the excitement.
playing with their new treats (a wac-a-mole game for Hunter and a star wars lego ship for Drew)

James was back to work on Tuesday, so the boys hung out at Nana and Papa's all day.  When I got home from work, they were waiting for their cupcakes to cool so they could put icing on their creations.

Finally time for icing!

James and I got the boys this monster truck set for valentine's day...it was on sale and they are obsessed with monster trucks lately.  It was a big hit.

Wednesday found me working in the morning, so Hunter headed up to Nana's.  I picked him up just after lunch (Drew was at school).  These mornings are so great for little Hunter-bug.  He doesn't get Nana to himself very often, so I think it's great bonding time for them.  As I'm typing this though, I've just realized that Drew doesn't get Nana and Papa to himself anymore either...must try to figure out a time to do this!

Thursday I was working in Peel, so the boys hung out at my parent's place again.  Once I got home, we all headed outside.  Drew wanted to go and play in the "secret" pasture field (it's out behind the cover-all and we don't go out there very often).  There happened to be more snow out there, so the boys made snow angels and had fun running up and down the hill.

Today was a bit of a crappy day.  I woke up, got Drew's lunch ready for school, got him up and bathed and hung out with him and James before he left for school (Hunter slept through all of this) and then I just crashed.  I passed out for a few hours.  I felt SO sick and miserable.  James actually called his parents and arranged for them to watch Hunter while I slept all day.  Once I woke up though, I felt a bit better and was way too guilty to let his parents take H.  I hadn't really seen him all day and didn't want to miss a chance to spend the day with him!  We played games, I took him to the library and Wal-mart (we got a new suitcase for the little man) and then once Drew came home for school we retreated to my parent's house (my mom had stopped by before we left for the library and was pretty persuasive in making sure we went up).  I was a bit of a lump at my parents, started feeling pretty crappy again.

The boys, thankfully, went to sleep easily once we got home and now I'm just about to hit the hay myself.  Let's hope some sleep makes me feel better....we've got a busy weekend ahead of us!
