More December...

On Sunday December 11, we headed to Nana's work Christmas party.  We met some friends there, and had a pretty good time.

Santa decided to make an appearance at the party and surprise all of the kids with an early Christmas present.

Drew was THRILLED with his gift from Santa.  He got a trio building set and has been playing with it every day since the party.  Hunter didn't care much for his, we found out later that he accidentally got a baby toy, instead of the one meant for his age group.  Oh well, it was nice he got anything at all.

On Monday, H and I went to our toddler playgroup.  Here, we made rice krispies treats.  H couldn't get enough of his.

After playgroup, H refused to nap.  I gave in and brought him downstairs and we played for the rest of the afternoon.  I left him in the playroom for a few minutes while I went out to the  kitchen to get some stuff ready for when Drew arrived home and this is what I found when I came back....

Poor little man passed out on the couch!  It's hard to be 2 sometimes.

It was HARD to be me that night.  We were originally planning on heading up to the Glen, but I aborted that plan as I felt like GARBAGE.  I felt dizzy, almost passed out a few times, had a terrible headache and had crazy blurry vision for a bit.  It was terrifying.  I'm glad I decided not to drive, but being home alone with 2 kids when you're feeling like that is not fun.  I almost called James and asked him to come home, but when the worst of it started, it was almost the boys bedtime anyways, so there wasn't really any point.  Thankfully, the boys were great.  They seemed to understand that mommy wasn't feeling well and let me be.  Before the worst of it started, we did have a chance to finally make our salt-dough ornaments, which was pretty fun.  They really enjoyed rolling out the dough.  Total cuteness.

As they have to cook for 5 hours, I had to ask James to take them out of the oven when he arrived home.  There was no way in hell I was staying up long enough to take them out!

My migrane had subsided by Tuesday and I was all set to head to work.  I was working at MSB on this day and ended up having a great day.  James took the boys to gymnastics in the morning and then dropped them off with Nana afterwards.  She took them on her lunch time bus run and then they stayed back with Papa once he arrived home from work while she went on her afternoon run.  This is the scene that I arrived home to.....

It is SOOO much easier going to work knowing that my kids are with my parents (or James' parents, or James).  While it is quite the juggle to try and arrange care on what is sometimes really short notice (gotta love the nature of my job!) it is definitely worth it!

Stay tuned for another post shortly!
