New Year, New Beginnings...

New school year that is...let's see if I can keep this blog up again (attempt # 1 million)

September 4 found Drew going off to his first day of grade 1.  He had a few meltdowns beforehand.  He was worried about not being able to play, having more work and that his best-friend would be at a different school....all very concerning things.

I had many meltdowns as well.  My baby is in school EVERY DAY now.  While I am very excited for all of the milestones yet to come, I'm heart-broken that I don't get to spend as much time with him as I used to (as is Hunter - he misses his brother terribly).

Hunter brought his sword out to the bus-stop - just in case.

His first day went great.  His teacher is amazing (she made a BIG deal about how she wasn't giving them homework on the first day, but their parents were getting homework - Drew thought that was HILARIOUS).  We've all settled into the school routine, and while I miss him like crazy, I'm thrilled he's started a new adventure and is growing and learning in leaps and bounds.

The weekend after his first week of school, Drew had his last soccer game.  He was very excited about the gigantic trophy he won as a result.  In all honesty, I think he was thrilled that soccer was over too.  I'm not sure he was that big a fan of it.  We're thinking of just doing more triathlons next summer instead of soccer...we'll see.  More on that in a later post.

September 10 was another huge milestone in our little family.  Hunter-bug had his first day of nursery school.  He is going to Hornby Co-op this year on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.  I wasn't sure how it would go.  I ended up getting called in to supply teach that day (got called by the principal, couldn't say no) so I cried all the way to work (sad about missing his first drop-off).  Hunter was upset when I left, so I was worried he would be upset when James dropped him off at school.

Thankfully, I was wrong.  Brother was more than ready for this school business.  He loves his teachers, loves all the stuff he gets to do and we're thrilled he's settled in so well.  He goes from 9-11:30, so on days when I don't have work I have a whole 2 and a half hours to myself!  It's come as quite the shock.

Still smiling after school was over.

I'm not sure why this photo is at the end of the post....we took this before school....thought it was cute!
That's it, that's all for right now...will post more later today!
