Wednesday visitors

This day started bright and early with me chugging way too much water for anyones good.  I had an ultrasound (no, not the super fun-see your baby-type of fun ultrasound).  I've been having some pain, and my doctor likes to keep an eye on a cyst that I have.  I showed up to the ultrasound place and the tech asks me when I had my gallbladder removed.  Pardon me??....I'm pretty sure I still have it.  Oh, the lady says, it says in your last report that it had been surgically removed.

Throughout the entire exam, I'm seething with rage.  I'm trying to figure out just when exactly, my gallbladder could have been taken out without me knowing...I narrowed it down to 2003, when I had a cyst removed.

Turns out the gallbladder is still there, and no law suits will be filed this month.

When I arrived home, my boys were waiting at the window, their noses pressed up against the glass.  They were SO excited.

"Guess what time it is mommy???"

"It's time that mommy is home!!!" I say super excitedly

"No, mommy....look, it's almost 10:30....aunt Laurie will be here soon!!!!!"

Silly me.

We have a pirate in our midst!
Aunt Laurie and Hadley came to visit us Wednesday morning and the boys couldn't have been more excited.  Drew must have shown the girls every toy he owned, and even dressed up in his pirate costume for them (something he reserves for his special guests).  It was such a fun morning, although I'm not sure Hunter knew what to make of little Hads.  He kept looking at her funny whenever I was holding her.

Thanks so much for making the trip over girls.  We loved seeing you, and really need to do it again soon!!

After the girls left, Hunter went down for a nap and Drew had some quiet time with some books and then some tv.  I then took him over to Terra, where they were having a paint your own pot and plant a seed activity for children.  We met up with some momstown friends there.  It was a fun activity that lasted for about an hour.  Drew is really into the whole gardening thing this year.  Am really going to have to get my act together and clean up the gardens.

Drew and Cody painting their pots.

Planting their seeds.
Hunter had just woken up once we arrived home, so we had to continue the planting fun by planting some more seeds.  I had purchased a "mini-greenhouse" kit at Terra and some vegetable seeds (pumpkin, pepper and tomato).  We set to work and a great mess was made!

Once the seeds were planted, it wasn't long before the machinery was brought out....

Since East Side Mario's was doing a kid's eat free promotion for march break, we decided to capitalize on the free meals and head there for dinner.

Drew's awesome drink...complete with cherries and cotton candy.

Hunter with milk and apple juice....will eventually share in the awesome drink above.

Thanks for sharing with me, brother.
Happy camper.

Dinner is always great there (knock on wood).  Free kids meals is always a nice bonus.  We also had a 5$ off coupon.  We rock.

After dinner, we weren't done with the awesomeness yet.  It was James' last day off, so we decided to go out with a bang and head over to Skedaddles to close out the evening.  The boys had a blast, and seriously didn't stop running the entire time.

Fun times with daddy.
It was one of the best days that I can remember.  So much fun.  Capped off with a bottle of wine....can't get much better than that!

Tuesday March 15

Day 2 of our super fun March break week found us on the road to Burlington.  We had made plans to meet at Pizza hut with our friend Robyn.  This has been our "usual" meet up place for the past few years, since we've both been so busy and it's been so hard to find time to get together.

I wasn't sure how the visit was going to go.  Sometimes the boys are great in a restaurant, sometimes they are not so great.  James and I made sure we brought lots of toys/books and our i-phones to keep them entertained.

They were awesome.  It took Drew a little bit to warm up to our dear friend (he hadn't seen her in over a year) but once he did....he was so cute.  Telling her stories, and being so great.  Hunter was his usual adorable self.  The lunch went so well that I was actually able to have a conversation with my friend, without being cut-off by Drew.  A true success!!!  I was very proud of my boys, and oh so happy to see Mortdawg.  I hate living so far away from my friends....really hope that we'll be able to hook up again soon.

After lunch, we headed to Costco, where it was a zoo, but we picked up the wipes we needed and some delicious cinnabon bars, which you really do need to sample, if you have  not tried them before.

That evening, we just hung out and laid low in preparation for our guests that were coming the next morning (which Drew was SOOO excited about!!)

Mountsberg Fun-Monday March 14th

Nana arrived at our house promptly at 9:30.  She was immediately taken upstairs to witness the truck racing grounds that has become our future upstairs bedroom.  The boys showed off their stuff, and then we were off to Mountsberg for the maple syrup festival.  It was a busy morning, filled with playing in the play barn, seeing where maple syrup comes from, sampling said maple syrup on some yummy pancakes, and some more play barn.

Hunter fell asleep on the way home, so Drew and Nana played trains and other various games at the house.

Nana getting schooled on the ways of Thomas
Nana had to leave at 1:30 to get to an eye appointment.  Drew was upset that she had to go so soon (even though she had been with us all day....never enough Nana time!) so plans were made for us to head up to the Glen for dinner.

We had our usual fun there.  James went and picked up a pizza from Toppers (I forget what it's called but it was the biggest one they make....square slices, super yummy).  It was double sticker day there, so my deal-finding husband was very pleased.

All in all, a great day!  First official day of March break a success!!

Friday and Sunday

Hunter and I picked Drew up from school friday and we all headed straight to Indigo (or the "Thomas book store" as Drew calls it).  We spent the next 2 hours there, playing and getting a treat at Starbucks (we got a free cupcake with our smoothie....lucky day!)

We headed to Shoeless Joe's afterwards and met our friends Brenda and Allie for dinner.  It was an awesome dinner.  Very yummy, and very quick service.  This was topped off by the fact that Brenda had secured a booth with a TV playing the Disney channel!

The kids all got "make your own sundae" for dessert and then got to pick a toy from the treasure chest.  My boys were happy campers at the end of the evening.  It was a fun night, hopefully we'll do it again soon!

I'm drawing a blank as to what we did on Saturday, so I'll move on to Sunday.

Sunday morning found us once again at swimming lessons.  This was the boys last lesson in their current session.  Both boys had a great time and "passed" their current level!  Hunter parent and tot 2 (ok, nothing to really pass here, but still....) and Drew preschooler C.  I was waiting to sign Drew up for preschooler D until he passed C, but when I tried sunday afternoon, the class I wanted him to be in was full.  He is now on a waiting list.....sigh.

I passed!!!
After swimming, we headed to Timmy's, then took the boys home (Hunter was falling asleep in his high chair).  James went off to basketball, Hunter slept and Drew and I hung out for the afternoon.

Once James got home, we all went into town to have good old McDonald's for dinner.  The boys played in the play place and James and I relaxed for a bit.  A fun evening.

The week so far...

Monday

Hunter tried Hummus, and loved it!!!

Drew had school on this day, and James, H and I spent the day around the house.  I cleaned the walls in the upstairs room that James and I are moving our bedroom to....in preparation for paint (have not picked the colour yet though).

We picked Drew up from school and headed to the Thomas book store, Starbucks for a treat and then to the dollar store for more treats.

H shopping at the Thomas book store (Indigo).
what happens when you give a baby an M&M - the new pretzel flavour...not so good!
After all of the treats, we met Nana and Papa at East Side Mario's for dinner.  We had a coupon for a free dessert and it was kids eat free night, so we made out pretty well!  The kids did a great job, and it seemed like we all had fun.  It was not relaxing in the least, but as far as dinner out with the kids go, I'd rate it as a success!!

After dinner found us upstairs in the empty room.  The boys love bringing their trucks up there and driving them back and forth.

Tuesday

At the Early Years Centre
Yesterday, I worked at Glen Williams public school in the morning.  James took the boys to the Georgetown early years centre, and then I met them at McDonald's.  We had a quick lunch and then James left for work and I stayed with the boys.

I can build my own towers now!!
It was busy today!
After a lot of playing at McDonald's (Drew and Hunter made some friends, so it was hard to drag them away).  We came home, Hunter had a nap and Drew and I made cookies.  Drew helped with the recipe until we were adding flour.  He decided to dump the flour on the counter, grab his steam roller, and played for almost an hour rolling the flour out.  He had a great time and I was impressed with myself for not getting annoyed at the mess!!!  LOL

The cookies turned out great....chocolate chip.  Yum!!

Once Hunter awoke from his nap, we headed up to Nana and Papa's for a pancake supper.  I was in charge of making the pancakes, which will probably never happen again.  While I was making them, Hunter decided to take all of the crackers out of the cupboard and dump them onto the floor.  Drew came along with his steam roller and smashed them all into the ground.  They made a huge mess, but it was so cute, who could get mad???

While all this was happening, dad was out in the barn.  He came in to a kitchen floor filled with cracker crumbs and the air filled with smoke (did I mention I was making pancakes???).  I only burned a few!

I also decided to put bananas in the pancakes, which the boys, James and I LOVE.  My parents were literally gagging when they tasted them.  I couldn't help laughing.  What a night!

                                                                   Wednesday

Drew got to make a mess yesterday, so this morning after James dropped Drew off at school, I dumped some oatmeal in Hunter's play pots and pans, just to see what he would do.  He spent the next hour emptying and filling the pans with his spoons and his hands.  Such fun!!!

This afternoon I was working at Pineview, teaching grade 2.  I got to sit with Drew in his class at lunch time.  He was thrilled and I was too....so much fun spending time with him at school (and getting paid for it too!!!).  James dropped Hunter off with my mom when it was time for him to go to work and Drew rode the bus home with Nana and Hunter after school.  We hung out there for the evening, and then we had what could only be described as the worst drive home ever.  It's been snowing/freezing rain all night, and the plows didn't seem to have come out yet.  We made it home, but I am still shaking from the drive. Oh well, both boys are sleeping and I'm blogging, so it can't be all that bad, right??

Happy birthday Leigha and Erin!!!

On Friday night, James took us out to dinner.  We headed to the Ivy Arms in Milton, because we had bought a WagJag certificate for there.  Our dinner was delicious, and both boys were very good throughout dinner.

Hunter drinking the ranch dressing....apparently he's taken lessons from my father.
After dinner we headed over to McDonald's for some ice cream.  The boys played in the play land for a bit, but we didn't stay long as it was super busy and I was feeling claustrophobic.

Saturday morning we drove to the Milton sports centre to take in a "monkeynastix" demo that Momstown was putting on.  Nana and Papa came too.  Afterwards, we went to Zellers, where we picked up a few Thomas items (which were on sale) and then to Timmy's.  My boys wanted to spend the rest of the day with Nana and Papa, but we all had things to do, so plans were made to head to their house for dinner later on.

Hunter had a big nap, and then on the way to the Glen, Drew fell asleep and had a big nap up there.  James took his car there, so he could use their shop to change the brakes on it (well overdue).  We ordered pizza and had a nice evening.

Sunday found us a little late for swimming lessons (crazy snow storm Saturday night), where both Drew and Hunter had a blast.  We headed to Timmy's afterwards.

James headed to play basketball after lunch and I took the boys to Leigha's 1st birthday party.  The party was a lady-bug themed party and was so much fun.  Happy birthday Leigha!!!
Bubbles!!!
The best shot I could get of the birthday girl, her family and her beautiful ladybug cake.
I dragged the boys away from the party, hurried back home to pick James up and then we were on the road again...this time headed to St. Catharine's to have dinner with some friends to celebrate Erin's birthday.  Originally the plan was to meet at Cat's Caboose.  James and I arrived there first, only to find there was an hour wait.  Back up plan found us at Boston Pizza.  The evening was nice.  Busy, as it was all about entertaining the two boys at the restaurant, but nice nonetheless.  Happy birthday, Erin!!
The only shot I got of the night, and Drew took it.  Uncle Ryan playing with Hunter.
